Corona lockdown – finding a way to get a conversation from within the rivm halls that have been spoken, without hacking anything or social engineering anything. Good luck figuring out how I did THAT.

Am I seriously considering applying to an entire country at once? Because recruiters don’t seem to possess the skill of .. listening .. when I say ‘A challenge’.

[ am I seriously considering applying to an entire country at once?]

So my eating trouble was already a thing when I was like.. 8-12 or something. A metric fuckton of trying and 'you know what.. fuck it, can't seem to figure out why im running into trouble again'. Tried normal diet, the astronaut or post-operation-extreme nutrient drinking stuff, and the like.

When corona came, I figured I'd give it another whirl and started drinking the following shakes:

150gram of whipcream icecream

500gram whipcream strawberry yoghurt

300grams of fat milk

turned out to be a shake of about a liter a piece. And drank 3 of those a day next to random other stuff.

This way, I finally gained 9 kilo's in 9 months.

. Erachter komen dat ik mijn honger gevoel compleet genergeerd heb en eruit had getrained.

Corona lockdown times: I was already practised with being a lone, gained weight, and if I hadn’t started bouldering earlier, the first lockdown would have likely killed me.

ACC ICT – highly technical position, first month struck the exact spot which I was both good at, loved doing and noticed the same communication as with the startup at htc.

They had this communication model course thing. And somehow, this did click with me. I noticed that I could reaosnable combine my roots of brabant with the conversational style of ‘promoter’, so I started practising that.

The slight problem? I was unemployed within a corona lockdown... ACC ICT hired me.

Spot on pertaining to the thing i was good at.

During the physical lockdowns, got bored again, while being the voice of reason for some folks with less than healthy thoughts after the longer periods of time of lockdown. So, I started hackthebox.

I churned through that platform in 3 months to OSCP level, while my fulltime job also needed time. But, so far, I've always found myself in a solistic situation when doing these challenges and projects. I've never figured out .. why.

On the subsequent lockdowns, I might have found a way to get first hand info, spoken in the halls of the RIVM pertaining to the timeline/planning of the lockdowns. The kind that would hit the news weeks later. Yet, I didn’t break any laws, nor did I social engineer anything. Which made me one of the very few people in the entirety of the netherlands privy to that bit of information. I couldn’t help but crack a smile. I did it.. .again. First across continents with hacking conferences, now with having information that very few people have within my home country. Information really IS the problem of this entire universe considering the big bang and the one thing that disperses that information, is time.

During one of the pre-lockdown evenings? A lady poked me in the most friendly way with a smile and a "I can't seem to figure you out"-way. My response? My entire lymbic system froze. My brain still worked and was trying to communicate - anything - but my face was still smiling from seeing her. Must've looked atleast odd, but I didn't exactly have a way to break the most foundational survival reactions in every human, yet.

But, the current set of extreme sports were starting to get .. 'same old'-kinds of boring. So, lets see what else is in store.

After a bit of soulsearching and thinking, figured something in the water might be an idea considering I had tried all other elements already. (air - parachute jumping, climbing - floor/low altitude, downhilling - top to bottom on a bike, etc)

Went kitesurfing with a climbing buddy. Well, I say kitesurfing, I mean getting some practise in as a crash test dummy with kite surfing equipment attached ;)

While fun enough, and I might still re-kindle that particular flame later in life.. for now? I just don't like the beach... or ocean.

Work there?

A position where I solved highly technical and specialized problems.

To quickly add value in this new position, I contributed to a DevOps CI/CD integration during the time I was

spending on learning Kubernetes. I was billable for 70% in my first week and the launching customer I was

on-boarded with, gave a 9/10 as appreciation.

Used my development knowledge to solve problems of colleagues more quickly. These were co-engineers

out of other specializations such as networking, firewalls or storage.

Contributed to the solution of running both Windows and Linux nodes in a single Kubernetes cluster. At this

time, this problem set wasn’t well known and aligned with the more esoteric problems I tend to enjoy

solving.

Coached the marketing and sales department in the technical things they’re selling and helped students

during the various webinars we held. Held a Git knowledge session when I noticed a knowledge gap within

the company.

Contributed to project ‘Bluebox’. This is a product which makes sure developers can do what they do best:

make software. Pipelines, Kubernetes, and Azure, AWS, Gitlab and other public clouds were automated as

much as possible and made easier for the developers and thereby, the customer. Functionally, this was an

ArgoCD fork with some additions.

After 6 months, the CEO came with the idea of making me tech-lead.

Being on call for periods of time was a part of this position.

Reason for leaving: Great company to work at, but a significant pay raise at the next company.
